Here is a couple of tournaments that I'd personally like to play. If you're interested then post about it and if 4 or more people show interest in any one or all of these setups, then I'll set up those tournaments. I don't plan on starting anything up before the 7th, so keep that in mind if you don't want to commit to playing between Christmas and Newyears. All these tournaments will require newly made teams and will be played in a (randomized) set order.

All-Human League

That is really all there is too it. No resitrictions other than having to use the Human team. The reason I'm picking humans is that they're verstaile because of their high number of positionals and access to all skill catagories, so it should be possible to develop teams that are quite bashy or agile relative to other human teams.

Stunty League

When you create a team there is a whole lot of teams that we haven't used yet, these are stunty teams and as I understand it they play similar to the Halfling and Goblin teams. Those are the teams that will be used in this league.

Speedy League rule

This rule means that a turn limit of 2 minutes and no overtime will be enforced by the client. I think it could be interesting to try, and I'd like to use it in the All-Human league. If you're interested in playing the All-Human league, state whether a turn time limit will prevent you from joining or if you're fine with it or don't care. Having a shorter turn limit for the Stunty league is a bad idea, I think, because playing Stunty involves a bunch of new and odd skills and is just different enough from playing with regular teams that it'll be confusing enough as it is.

Speedy league man. Then I might actually be able to beat BigDaddy.

I am up for an all human tournament with a "fixed" round robin (we all have to play our matches in order - no one player playing all 6 in a row and crushing the 6th guy with a 30 point TR advantage) for seeding, followed by a knockout round for the final champion. I would like the league to exclude big guys from the human teams, just normal positional's and however many players/re-rolls/apothecary the owner wants.

I would like a stunty league as well, Squig Herders seems like a fun team to play.

I think a 2 minute turn rule would be great as long as all the players are fairly experienced. I can play faster now, but it was difficult to put a strategy in play and took a lot of time when I was starting.

By the way I think all-human league is a pretty crap idea. I'm aware that it is in the interests of game balancing in the effort of pure competition, but it's pointless in a game as based on luck as BB is.

Can't we just make a league where we get rid of the teams that truly are too good for their own sake (like dorfs (and maybe orcs))?

I think all three are great ideas.

I also endorse limited turn time matches because my strategy is "hit them until they die" so maybe I'd win once in a while :D

This is a tournament where a bunch of players shift around miniatures for a time and then Jim wins.

Who has the Cyanide game here? I think we're only 3 or four. You, Brick and I, and did Fearsson get it? Chubbs will probably get it eventually. I'd prefer playing the Cyanide version over fumbbl, but I'm still up for an occasional game on either version. I'd be interested in a structured league for sure, again on either version, but I am not interested in running or organizing it. As far as one-off matches goes, if anyone is up for it and notices me on MSN, Kongregate or somewhere else, just gimme a shout.

All-Grain: Have you looked at the updated private league manager yet?

It's supposed to be better than the original one ( I played in a private league that had to be restarted 3 times to guys dropping out, it was a trainwreck).

I have been awaiting a break to install STW402's Around the World mod for the AI and then start up a DE team. I have played a Dwarf team (Death Roller availability as a team member makes me love LRB5) a Wood Elf team and a Chaos team. The Chaos team is by far the most powerful and flexible, at an advanced level they are nigh unstoppable on offense or defense ( I have an MA7 Chaos Warrior with block and dodge - try taking him down!).

I'm not sure that the amount of Blood Bowling justifes a whole forum any longer! It is pretty easy to miss any new posts in this place now, since posts are so far inbetween.

Anyways, I haven't checked it out. I haven't been interested in playing in private leagues since the only two private leagues I'd be interested in is one made up of my real-life nerd posse and one of Cpop members, and neither seem possible. What was wrong with the private leagues? I've been playing the match maker a fair bit since that was introduced though. I'd really recommend playing it over the AI, but playing random internetpeople has drawbacks as well for sure.

Chaos really does rule. I've got a 2000 TV team in the match maker, and I've just gotten to the point where I feel I can add Claw without being out-guarded, so they're kicking ass. I'd say that Chaos is the best bashy team, by far, at high TVs, like from around 1800 they really pick up and around 2300 they leave Dwarfs & Orcs in the dust, dying.

The Death Roller is fun, but I just don't really see it being worth the high TV cost in most matches. If your opponent is a bashy team, playing a strict running-game and going for a 2-1 win with stalling, then the Death Roller is very useful to use in the half where you are kicking, I feel, but I've rarely seen it used like that. Versus AG 4 teams and teams with a solid passing game, it just doesn't seem worth it to me. Dwarfs don't need help on the offensive drive, as far as I see it, causing casualties and slowly moving the ball down-field isn't where the Dwarf team needs an expensive boosts, it is while trying to recover the ball from the opponent, or at least pressure him into scoring quickly in the half where the opponent is recieving so that you have enough time left in that half to score a TD yourself.

Well, then we should put together a an "All Grain Nerd - CPop Fagg's Grand Championship". How bad could it be?

I think that we're 4 or 5 Cpoppers who have bought the game, Brick, Mr. Right, you, me and possibly Fearsson? Dan will probably get it when/if he upgrades his pc. Not quite enough players for a tourney, I think, but if everyone is up for a league somewhat similar to the one we had going once, the ladder with challenging and no matches that you "have" to play, that could work fine, I think. I'm not sure that anyone else than the two of us are really interested in that though, and without Dan, Dysk and TwoBeers, I sorta doubt we'll be able to have a league as active as the one we had.

So what about that fumbbl thing, eh

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't see myself going back to that after playing the Cyanide version. It may be gimped in some areas, but it looks like they are slowly working out some of the bugs. It's good enough for private league play right now. We just need more guys to get the program.
